Darcy Cardigan is a raglan cardigan with extra details on the shoulder that gives a nice fit. It has a deep raglan and the sleeve cuffs are placed on the upper side of the sleeve. This gives a sculptural silhouette to the sleeve. The front edges and neckline are knitted last. Darcy Cardigan has a shape that goes well with both trousers and dresses.

Construction

The Darcy Cardigan is knitted from the top down. The top is knitted in reverse rows to create the shape of the neckline, while raglan increases and shoulder increases are knitted in the middle of the sleeve. When all increases have been knitted, the sleeve stitches rest and the back/front pieces are finished back and forth on the needle. The sleeves are then knitted in the round. Finally, the front edges and neckline are knitted, and buttons are sewn on.

Size selection

The Darcy Cardigan is intended to have a positive ease of approx. 15-20 cm. Here both the olive green and burgundy ones are shown with a positive ease of approx. 20 cm. Note, the Darcy Cardigan is relatively short. Calculate extra yarn if you want to knit it longer. Find your personal girth by measuring around your chest (or the largest measurement of your upper body). Then look at the measurements first in the pattern (this is the finished measurement of the cardigan). The positive ease is the difference between your personal measurement and the cardigan's measurement.

For example, if your waist is 94 cm, a size M will give you a range of motion of 20 cm (114 cm – 94 cm = 20 cm).
