Le Knit - Memory Sweater - Paper

Memory sweater is a perfect project for those who want to learn how to knit patterns with multiple colors. The pattern is knitted only from the right side and there are short thread jumps that make it easy to get the thread to lay nicely on the wrong side. For Memory sweater you also use up your leftovers, and that way little memories from other knitting projects come into the sweater.

Pattern color C, pink: 8-10 g Filcolana Tilia fg 335 (25 g = 210 m) knitted together with 4-6 g Filcolana Saga fg 335 (50 g = 300 m). Knit with 2 strands Tilia and 1 strand Saga.

Bottom color: Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt (100% wool, 50 g = 91 m) knitted together with Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk mohair (57% mohair, 28% silk, 15% wool, 25 g = 212 m).

Pattern color A, light brown: 35-40 g Sandnes Garn Tweed Recycled color 3185 (50 g = 175 m). Knit with double thread.

Pattern color B, reddish brown: 15-20 g Sandnes Yarn Brushed Alpaca color 3553 (50 g = 110 m).

Pattern color C, natural: 4-5 g Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk mohair color 1012 (25 g = 212 m) knitted together with 20-25 g Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt tweed color 2523 (50 g = 91 m).

Note: The amount of yarn depends on the running length of the yarn. That is, if the running length of the yarn you have chosen is shorter than the yarn I have used, you should use more yarn.

Guiding pins

Circular needles (40 and 80 cm) and double pointed needles no. 4 and 5.

If you use magic loop, you don't need double pointed needles.

Knitting strength

18 mx approx. 22 rows with pattern = 10 x 10 cm on needles size 5 mm.

18 mx approx. 24 rows with the base color = 10 x 10 cm on needles size 5 mm.

Size selection

The sweater is intended to have a positive ease of movement of approximately 12-18 cm. The dark brown is shown here with a range of movement of 20 cm. The light tweed is shown here with a range of movement of 28 cm for an oversized fit. Length is measured at the center back, including the neckline.

Construction

The sweater is knitted from the top down. The neckline is double and knitted together. After the neckline, reverse rows are knitted so that the neckline is deeper at the front than at the back. Then the round yoke is knitted with pattern and increases (both parts are shown in the diagram). Then the raglan increases before the body and sleeves are finished separately.
