Esther Sweater Junior - Paper

Esther Sweater Junior is knitted from the top down in textured knit. First, the back piece is knitted back and forth. Then, stitches are picked up for the shoulders, which are gathered at the front to the front piece. The front and back piece are gathered under the armhole to form the body, which is knitted straight down. The sleeves are knitted in the round on double pointed needles or with the Magic Loop technique. The neckline is knitted with a ribbed edge that is folded and knitted down.
Knit a test piece before you start, to measure the knitting tension – please note that the knitting tension in both height and width must be correct to achieve the measurements stated on the front. You can knit a test piece according to the diagram in the pattern.
Size guide
Esther Sweater Junior should have a positive ease of approx. 20 cm in relation to the bust measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-12) 12-14 years correspond to a bust measurement of approx. 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (78) 82 cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are stated on the front of the pattern (please note that these measurements only apply if the knitting tension is observed). If the recipient, for example, measures 56 cm around the bust, you should knit size 3-4 years. A sweater in size 3-4 years has an upper width of 77 cm and will in the above example give a positive ease of 21 cm. If the measured bust size deviates from the age guide, you should adjust the lengths to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/taller than average.
