The Everyday Balaclava is knitted from the top down in stockinette stitch. First, a square is knitted to match the top of the head. Then, stitches are picked up on each side of this square and shortened rows/reversible rows are knitted to shape the top of the balaclava. Then, decreases are knitted along the face opening. The balaclava is then knitted straight down and finally gathered under the chin to be knitted in the round, before being divided into a front and a back piece that are knitted in rib. Finally, a folded rib edge with built-in double crochet is knitted in the face opening.
