September Sweater - Paper
The September Sweater is knitted from the top down in English rib. First, the back piece is knitted, where stitches are cast on for the neck and knitted back and forth on the needle with increases in each side. Next, stitches are picked up for the shoulders, which are knitted separately, and then gathered at the front for the front piece. Below the armhole, the back piece and front piece meet to form the body, which is knitted in the round on a circular needle. Then, stitches are picked up for the sleeves, which are knitted in the round with decreases on a short circular needle. Finally, stitches are picked up in the neck opening, and the neck rib edge is knitted from these. The neck rib edge is cast on double and sewn down. The September Sweater is therefore assembly-free except for the neck edge, which is sewn down at the end.
Knit a swatch before you start to find the needle size that gives you the right gauge. Please note that it is difficult to measure English rib as it is elastic – so measure all distances several times.
Size guide
September Sweater has a slightly oversized fit with a positive ease of movement of approximately 15-20 cm. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL correspond to a chest measurement of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 cm. Measure yourself with a tape measure before you start knitting, to assess which size will fit you best. Example: You measure yourself with a tape measure around your chest (or stomach if that is the widest area of your upper body) to 94 cm. This corresponds to you knitting size M.
Please note that patent knit will expand slightly in width when washed and worn. Therefore, you can expect your September Sweater to grow approximately 4-8 cm in width compared to the measurements stated on the front of the pattern.
