Holger Cardigan - Paper
The Holger Cardigan is knitted from the top down. The body is knitted with stripes, while the sleeves, button placket and neckline are knitted in a solid color in their own color. First, the upper part of the back piece is knitted back and forth, where the slope of the shoulders is formed with shortened needles (reversible needles), while at the same time the stripes are knitted. Then the shoulders are knitted separately back and forth on circular needles. The front pieces and back piece are then gathered to form the body, which is knitted back and forth on circular needles with stripes. The sleeves are knitted from open sts along the sleeve opening. The button placket and rib at the neck are finally knitted from open sts.
Size guide
Holger Cardigan should have a positive ease of movement of approx. 20-25 cm in relation to the bust measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-11) 11-12 (12-14) years correspond to a bust measurement of approx. 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (75) 78 (82) cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan are stated on the front of the pattern (please note that these measurements only apply if the knitting tension is observed). If the recipient e.g. measures 62 cm around the bust, you should knit size 6-7 years. A cardigan in size 6-7 years has a waist measurement of 86 cm and in the above example will give a range of movement (positive ease) of 24 cm. If the measured bust measurement deviates from the age guide, you should adjust the lengths to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/taller than average.
