Novice Slipover Junior - Paper
The Novice Slipover Junior is worked top down in stockinette stitch. First the back piece is worked, and then stitches are picked up in the cast-on edge of the back piece to form the shoulders. The shoulders are gathered at the front to form the front piece. The back piece and front piece are gathered under the armhole to form the body, which is worked in the round on circular needles. Finally, rib edges are worked along the neckline and armholes. There are help videos for all steps in the pattern here.
Size guide
Novice Slipover Junior should have a positive ease of approx. 10 cm in relation to the bust measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-12) 12-14 years correspond to a bust measurement of approx. 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (77) 82 cm. The measurements of the finished vest are stated on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the knitting tension is adhered to). If, for example, the recipient measures 62 cm around the bust, you should knit size 6-7 years. A vest in size 6-7 years has an upper width of 72 cm and in the above example will give a positive ease of 10 cm. If the measured bust size deviates from the age guide, you should be aware of adjusting the lengths to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/taller than average.
