Lyon Sweater Junior is knitted from the top down. First, the top part of the back piece is knitted with increases. Then the shoulders are knitted from the open stitches at the top of the back piece. Stitches are picked up along the shoulders, and the rest of the yoke is knitted together on circular needles, first back and forth and then around. The body is knitted in the round on circular needles, and the sleeves are knitted in the round on double pointed needles or with the Magic Loop technique. Finally, a folded rib edge with built-in double crochet is knitted in the neck opening. Lyon Sweater Junior is knitted with stripes from the middle of the yoke downwards.

Size guide

Lyon Sweater Junior should have a positive ease of movement of approx. 18 cm in relation to the bust measurement. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-11) 11-12 (12-13) 13-14 years correspond to a bust measurement of approx. 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (75) 78 (80) 82 cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are stated on the front of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the knitting tension is observed). If the recipient e.g. measures 62 cm around the bust, you should knit size 6-7 years. A sweater in size 6-7 years has an upper circumference of 80 cm and in the above example will give a range of movement (positive ease) of 18 cm. If the measured bust measurement deviates from the age guide, you should be aware of adapting the lengths to the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is shorter/taller than average.
