The hat is knitted from the bottom up in rib, with Double Sunday, or 2 strands of Sunday for melange. The pattern includes both options.

The hat is cast on with Italian cast on and knitted 2 rounds with double knit for a sturdy and flexible edge. The hat is then knitted in rib with decreases at the top. Italian cast on and rib make the hat elastic and fit well on the head.
