Size selection

The Terracotta Sweater is intended to have a range of motion of approx. 20-28 cm. It is shown here with a range of motion (positive ease) of approx. 25 cm. The sweater is therefore shown on a model with a waist that is 25 cm smaller than the sweater's waist. Find your personal waist by measuring around your chest (or the largest measurement of your upper body). Then look at the measurements first in the pattern (this is the sweater's finished measurements). The range of motion (positive ease) is the difference between your personal measurement and the sweater's measurements. If your waist is e.g. 94 cm, a size S/M will give you a range of motion of 26 cm (120 cm – 94 cm = 26 cm). *The length is measured at the center back, not including the neckline.

Construction

The Terracotta Sweater is knitted from the top down. First, the top of the back piece is knitted from the slanted shoulders down to the bottom of the armhole. Then, the top of the front piece is knitted along the slanted shoulders of the back piece. The slanted shoulders of the front piece are formed with reverse knitting needles. Then, the neckline is formed and the two sides of the front piece are gathered and knitted down to the bottom of the armhole. When the top of both the back and front pieces are knitted, the two parts are gathered and the body piece is finished in the round on circular needles. Then, the stitches are knitted along the armhole and the sleeve is knitted in the round, from the top down. Finally, the stitches are knitted along the neckline, and the neckline is knitted and folded down.
